Journey to Tsingy de Bemaraha - Part 2

En janvier dernier, vous avez pu découvrir la première partie du récit de mon voyage aux Tsingy de Bemaraha dans l'article suivant : In January, you could discover the first part of the story of my trip to Tsingy de Bemaraha in the following article: Tsingy de Bemaraha : la descente de la Tsiribihina Tsingy de Bemaraha: the descent of the Tsiribihina . . It was therefore high time that I publish the result, while I was already preparing to emigrate to Mauritius.

During the first part, we stopped at the village of Belo on Tsiribihina, which is the city that reaches to the end of the descent of the river Tsiribihina.

As you can see on the map, we are now very close to Tsingy. The next trip is to reach Bekopaka in 4 × 4. It is a small village on the edge of massive Tsingy. We turn then to travel the path of Morondava road is lined with many baobab, especially on a stretch of road called the Avenue of the Baobab. After Morondava, it's time to reach the capital Antananarivo through the city of Antsirabe.

We cross the first Tsiribihina. Et nous débarquons du bac à Belo-sur-Tsiribihina. And we disembark the ferry at Belo-sur-Tsiribihina.

They then attacked a track of 70 kms, or about 4 hours in 4 × 4 to Bekopaka, a village at the entrance of Tsingy de Bemaraha.

02-billboard-Tsingy Bemaraha

At the end of the runway, the river separates us from Manambola Bekopaka. Nous devons donc reprendre un bac. We must therefore take a ferry. There are some crocodiles that will not see it must be said that the area is very popular in the tourist season.

03-manambola-CROSSING

A Bekopaka, we are housed in a bungalow in the relay of Tsingy is a brand new complex.

I do not advise their kitchen but the view is superb:

We come across an elegant gecko is a species of lizard.

The next day the tour starts with the passes of the Manambola, which are 80m high. We can observe some Vazimba hidden tombs in the cliffs. The Vazimba were the first inhabitants of the area.

We stopped in some small caves where one can admire the stalactites and stalagmites.

Visit the Tsingy itself will in the afternoon.

In the primary forest that borders it, we discover sympatiques sifakas (which means lemur in Madagascar). This is the case "Sifaka Verreaux.

Some trees are smothered by vines parasites by their impressive size.

Arriving at the edge of the Massif des Tsingy, we begin to climb with the aid of harnesses and ropes and ladders through. It looks impressive as that but the circuit is within reach of everyone.

The Tsingy Bamaraha are the largest protected area of the island, comprising 157,000 ha national park (this one) and a nature reserve to the north.

Here we approach one of the top, built in gazebo.

13-tsingy-bemaraha-belvedere

The Tsingy are churches with steeples natural Karst, classified by UNESCO. These limestone formations shaped needles. Absolument spectaculaires! Absolutely spectacular!

Bon voyons, comment dit-on “se suicider” en malgache. Well now, how do you say "suicide" in Malagasy. Ah d'accord : Mamoha fo Ah agree: Mamoha fo ;)

14-tsingy-bemaraha-belvedere

There are 200 million years, the Bemaraha plateau was completely covered by the sea

The shells and dead corals were welded together between them slowly, forming layers for several tens of thousands of years. We found shells and then it is 100km from the sea!

16-tsingy-bemaraha-tops

Subsequently, a gigantic plate begins to emerge. Limestone dry and cracks, causing the creation of canyons and dioclases (breaks).

17-tsingy-bemaraha-heights

Finally, there are 5 million years, another type of erosion is the complete picture: that of rain.

16-tsingy-bemaraha-tops

Slightly acidic, it trickles down the rock, erodes the limestone and created the famous lapies, these sharp ridges of gray called Tsingy (pointed or sharp) in Madagascar.

18-tsingy-bemaraha-heights

We never tired of admiring them.

19-tsingy-bemaraha-heights

In places, the vegetation becomes established, as here with this beautiful tree vazaha (the Malagasy name for the foreign Europeans). Il est comme nous : il pèle! He is like us: it peels!

20-tsingy-bemaraha-tree-vazaha

And here and there appear a few cacti.

21-tsingy-bemaraha-cactus

While we were walking on top of limestone peaks, a monkey bridge appears and allows you to enjoy a deep canyon.

Then after enjoying the magnificent scenery of these rocks out of sight, it is already time to leave through the depths of the massif.

23-tsingy-bemaraha-depth

From below, the Tsingy are enormous rooms with high ceilings, while the few shrubs that grow there are figure of houseplants.

At the edge of the massif, it encounters a tree icons site. Pourquoi pousser droit quand on peut faire quelques loopings? Why push right when you can make some loops?

Following this visit the Tsingy of Bemaraha, we cross the river again to reach Manambola Belo on Tsiribihina.

Et nous quittons Belo pour Morondava. And we left for Belo Morondava.

Morondava 18km before we finally stop on the avenue of baobab.

L 'allée des baobabs is the collection of the most spectacular baobabs of the island. Twenty of these giant multi-centennial of the vegetable stand because the silhouette of their masterful huge trunks that eventually a canopy almost atrophied on both sides of the sandy track.

Le baobab est le roi des végétaux. The baobab is the king of vegetables. Gigantic tree trunk thick, heavy fruit-shaped gourd and branches almost atrophied, like roots pushing toward the sky.

Difficile de se comparer à eux… Difficult to compare them ...

27-allee-baobab-comparison

There are in Madagascar 6 of 8 species of baobab trees in the world.

The baobab has a wide range of uses, although its strength prevents people to shoot. Its leaves and fruits are eaten boiled bark is used to make ropes and clothing, and building houses. Its sap is used to make paper.

His trunk, a real tank may contain thousands of gallons of water. Certains spécimènes dépasseraients les 1000 ans d'âge. Some specimens dépasseraients the 1000 years of age.

The sunset is the highlight of the show, throwing long shadows in the sky.

Check in Morondava: The Heart of Sakalava territory. Capital Region Menabe receives each year by 10 months of dry heat tempered by sea breezes. It is a small city with streets of sand.

We are staying in a small bungalow overlooking the ocean. It takes some getting used to the sound of waves in the night.

We note that the ocean inexorably eroding the sandy coastline of Morondava, the canal of Mozambique.

34-morondava-havoc-ocean

Come on, we made a quick visit to mangrove?

35-canoe-Mangova

The mangrove forest is flooded covered by a mixture of freshwater and saltwater. The tree roots protruding from the earth and are home to fishes. C'est un milieu foisonnant de vie. It is an environment teeming with life.

Et les caméléons sont de la partie : And are the chameleons of the game:

We dock on the other side of the river, not far from a fishing village are ethnic Vezos.

Nous quittons enfin Morondava. We finally leave Morondava.

From there, take a road where the asphalt is gone, whole patches and the heat is oppressive. Up Miandrivazo, this will be the galley with the damaged road.

42-Menabe Plains

While we halted due to technical problem, the people very welcoming of Madagascar just keep us company. The people are always proud to pose for the photo and marvel at seeing the preview on the LCD screen.

Antsirabe: it's just the capital of the Malagasy crafts, a good opportunity to visit small family businesses that are created.

The seamstresses have more than embroider patterns.

An adorable Grandma is there to placate us. She will sell the company products. We finish the journey by visiting tailors horn zebu, which we are a small demonstration:

On doit d'abord retirer l'os de la corne. We must first remove the bone of the horn.

Puis on la chauffe. Then it is heated.
