There exists a great number of commercial software to create diagrams, but the choice becomes more restricted when one seeks a free software and effective.

To create free diagrams with OpenOffice Draw One often quotes Dia, to replace the commercial software Microsoft Visio, but its catch in hand remains not very intuitive.
