New departure in Mauritius

I had indicated to you several time that I was going to leave without delay to Mauritius. Then I had had to push back the date because of the medical tests required to have the authorization to work there.

Finally, finally arrived to here me is and I write to you in this moment even town hall of Four-Terminals, inside the grounds of Mauritius.

Since I often do not write on my private life, I will give you some explanations in this article. It will be an occasion for you to better know your servant

To include/understand my course, it should be known that I always had the fidgets. One will be able to find the origin of this lifestyle in the multiple removals related to the work of my father, who was receiver with the Post office. Or in my Polish and Italian origins, which make that my family is scattered.

But more probably, I imagine that this attraction for exploration belongs to my nature. I always liked the shifted experiments, the exoticism which one finds under new horizons. The goal is always to integrate me to the maximum with the local culture and for this reason, nothing of such as the prolonged stays. It is what Tim Ferriss calls the Mini-retirements, with share that in my case I continue to work full-time.

Thus I could discover some areas of the world:

The United States, in 2001: a job of 2 months summer and half with Avalon, New Jersey, on the east coast. It was my first experiment in an anglophone country, and the American accent was hard to seize. Having come without too much from means, I especially worked without slackening, exerting even two jobs the last month. It was what my school of engineer had called a working training course. The goal was to work in a little qualified employment, and I had found for my part a job in a sandwichery, as in a Yacht Club to make plunges it. A good manners to know the true value of the money. Incidentally, I have escaped with the attack of September 11, since my flight of return was envisaged a few days later. But I really read the drama in the faces of American.

Ireland, in 2001/2002: thanks to the program of European exchange Eurasmus, I could study during one year in Dublin, the capital of Ireland. I have a very pleasant memory of this period, where I discovered the culture of the pubs, the dance of living room and the Irish music. One time rich in meetings, with a young and cosmopolitan population. A remarkable economic growth, which makes it possible to easily find some odd jobs of the weekend like man sandwich (sic!) and inventory maker. Without counting all the possibilities of exploration of the marvellous landscapes of the back country.

England, in 2003/2004: in 2003, I obtain my diploma for the occupation of computer engineer. However, it is not question for me of fixing me in France. I thus contact Khrys, my best pal of the time of Ireland, and one is motivated in leave to the conquest England. Always without too much means, one finds oneself soon to camp in periphery of London, in an area called M4 Corridor, considered for his activity in data processing. Our days are summarized to go during one hour until the centre town of Slough, the principal city of the surroundings, to note the apartments and potential job offers of the area, then to call these contacts before returning under the tent. It is undoubtedly the period when I ate the most sandwiches of English sandwich bread of my life. And also a period of good is delirious and of exacerbated creativity, there even was the idea to make cook our hard-boiled eggs with the dry hand of the toilets of the camp-site! Finally, after having found a house which one will divide with my cousin, one will anything else find only odd jobs and one will separate in March 2004.

Scotland, in 2004/2006: I find finally a job more or less serious in a center of call technical of IBM to Greenock in Scotland. I have like the feeling to be returned in the time of Ireland, with share that there I am paid full-time. It is once again the occasion to make knowledge with a strong international community and people also music lover whom Irish (I live non-loin of a concert hall). I also begin again my run of rock'n'roll in a club very professional and sympatic which is called Ceroc (that I have already describe previously). However, in this new employment, I remain on my hunger, it is not what one awaits from an engineer. It is thus time to transfer edge.

Madagascar, in 2006/2008: I really left on a blow head to Madagascar. I had never put the feet at it, but it has is enough to a woman to try me, although our ways separated it is now well a long time. With the passing, I believe that it was a beautiful occasion to stimulate me to leave my employment in Scotland, where I fell asleep gently in the routine. In short, to have shortly after found an echo with my sendings of CVs and covering letters, me here finally in Madagascar, with a station as a developer in data processing.

On my arrival with Antananarivo, I had the impression to arrive in a large village. Admittedly by the number of the population, it is unquestionably a city, but all remained at the artisanal stage: not only one fire of road traffic, the cars worthy of a museum of the car, with in premium of the rickshaws and other zebu tanks, of the small narrow streets and dirt tracks between the dwellings, and of course innumerable gargottes and other small stores which sell all with the detail. The inhabitants give to them-even the impression of all to know each other, and to even supervise itself, jalouser, thing facilitated by the guards and other tradesmen, who do not weary themselves to observe the passers by. And I confirm that the comrage is well the most destroying force of the universe!

All in all, those which have the means live well in Madagascar, and can treat to certain expensive luxuries in Europe like the good ones, artisanal guards and other products. All this on the condition of very making to attention with not froisser the powerful families of the capital, of which some form true Maffias. Because in spite of the office of fight anti-corruption, very buys itself in Madagascar, and in particular justice.

In spite of the dramas which they live with the daily newspaper, the majority of the Madagascans carry out a sizeable and courageous life.
The men and the women work in concert and perpetuate the culture of the ancestors while remaining opened the abroads. And if one takes time to discover the Malagasy language, accompanied by some words of songs, the faces are illuminated and the cultural barriers fall. The fact is that the Madagascans can live in the moment present, to face the difficult tests with the smile and to be filled with wonder at any thing, a frame of mind for a long time forgotten in our modern societies.

If one adds to all that the whole of the superb landscapes of the island, it is undeniable that Madagascar is worth largely the blow to be visited. I have an indelible memory of this rich country of so much of resources, which knew to keep a strong identity and an unquestionable charm.

Mauritius, 2008/? : here, I can to only speak you about my first impressions. I arrived at Mauritius on October 1 and I work in this moment in Cyber City. The population is bigare, Hindu in majority, then creole, white and Asian by order of importance. The climate is soft and the transparent lagoons, especially when the sky is quite blue. In short, a small paradise for the tourists and those which have the means. For the Mauritians, the life is definitely harder, and that results in particular in a night activity very limited apart from the tourist corners. With me maintaining to discover the culture Mauritian as well as the local language: the Creole Mauritian.

Article enthralling, very synthetic, and written well. I hope that one will be entitled to a description of the country as interesting as that of Madagascar.
